Manhyia South MP introduces ‘Soloku’ Festival to promote Asanteman values

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has introduced a new festival aimed at promoting social unity, preserving cultural heritage, and boosting local economic development within the constituency.

The event, known as the “Soloku” Festival, is scheduled for Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, and is expected to bring together residents and visitors from different backgrounds to celebrate the community’s rich culture and vibrant talents.

The festival will include a variety of activities such as street jam sessions, cultural displays, and community-based competitions. These will feature events like the Soloku Dance Competition, cooking contests, Tug of Peace, table tennis, and card games, all aimed at encouraging active participation among youth groups in the constituency.

Following its official launch, which generated significant excitement, the festival is set to take place at Abby’s Park in Manhyia South, with organisers anticipating attendance of more than 10,000 people.

The central theme of the event is captured in the slogan “One People! One Vibe,” highlighting unity and togetherness.

Speaking during the launch, Nana Baffour Awuah explained that the festival goes beyond entertainment and is intended to create meaningful economic opportunities for the community. He stressed that the initiative seeks to unite residents, empower young people, support small businesses, and strengthen community bonds.

He further noted that the festival is expected to stimulate economic growth in Manhyia South, drawing inspiration from the success of the Kwahu Easter Festival, which has significantly boosted tourism and local businesses. According to him, the Soloku Festival will similarly enhance economic activity, support traders, and create new opportunities for residents.
